Joseph Anthony Zott Sr. of Palo Alto, husband of the late Joan Emily (Vandercook) Zott, died on May 26, 2017. Born June 4, 1928 in Centerline MI, of the late Milton William and Marion (Rinke) Zott. Joseph is survived by his six sons: Joseph Zott Jr. and wife Lauri Hart of Menlo Park; John Zott and wife Marjorie Colletta of Santa Cruz; Jerome Zott and wife Karen (Anderson) Zott of Glastonbury, CT; James Zott and wife Kathleen Greco-Zott of Omaha, NE; Jay Zott of Sacramento; Jeffrey Zott of Burlington, WI. Joe was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Amy (Lamerand) Zott of Burlington, WI and his sister Mary Jane Strickfaden. Joe leaves 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Joe graduated from University of Detroit Mercy with a degree in Chemical Engineering and an MBA. He was involved in many activities including the Boy Scouts of America, youth soccer as a referee and at St Fabian’s, Farmington Hills, MI as treasurer of their credit union and as a Eucharistic minister. Joe was a licensed engineer, a member of the NFPA and specialized in fires at nuclear power plants. Joe migrated to Dublin, OH and then to Folsom, CA where he worked for the Sacramento Municipal Utilities District until retirement.
